WELCOME TO THE 28th INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM OF OSTEOPATHY IN MONTREAL

Philippe-Druelle-D.O
We are pleased to invite you to the 28th Symposium of Traditional Osteopathy in Montreal. This year is special, as we will also be celebrating the 30 year anniversary of the College and the new graduates of our school. You are all welcome to share in the celebration.

The success of our symposium rests on the pleasure of mingling in the company of very experienced as well as newly graduated osteopaths, students from Canada and all over the world, to find efficient solutions for patients and to share ideas and experiences. It is an excellent opportunity to develop palpation skills, to learn new osteopathic therapeutic methods, to meet experts capable of answering our questions. Through the years, Montreal has become a place where the beginning of June is a celebration of Osteopathy. Here you will find a convergence of science, philosophy, humanity, pleasure and competence. This is our main objective.

This year, the theme of the symposium was inspired by this quote from Andrew T. Still: ...All the remedies necessary to health exist in the human body. They can be administered by adjusting the body in such a manner that the remedies may naturally associate themselves together...

This concept is fascinating, it is the key to our work and the speakers will develop this theme through the subjects they will be addressing. The body once released from traumatic barriers and aftereffects of emotions is able to find the path to health on several levels, metabolism finds its natural biochemical balance, and we are freer to choose our life. Osteopathy benefits the population and integrates with the complementarity of health professions. It is useful. It represents solutions for patients and savings for society.

This year we are pleased to welcome: Philippe Druelle D.O. (CA), Geneviève Forget D.O. (CA), Daryl Herbert D.O. (GB), Leo den Hollander D.O. (CH), Margret Klein D.O. (US), Maryse Lassonde Ph.D. (CA), Kenneth Lossing D.O. (US), Renzo Molinari D.O. (GB), Anne-Julie Morand D.O. (CA), Dino Muzzi D.O. (CA), Michael Patterson Ph.D. (US), Birgit Doggé-Schack D.O. (CH), Robert Schleip PhD MA (DE), Clive Standen D.O. (NZ), Jaap van der Wal MD Ph.D. (NL).

This meeting will also give us an opportunity to share and discuss our efforts towards the recognition of our university level program as in many other countries and the progress we have made towards the recognition of our profession through the work of the Office des professions du Québec.

On June 4 a Gala and Graduation Ceremony will be held in the company of family, friends and guests of the symposium. This year’s graduates will bring the total number of graduates from our college to over 850. This Gala will also be celebrating 30 years of work, of service to the population and to society, and we will also be receiving several personalities who have accompanied us over the years. This will be a chance to present them to you and to express our sincere gratitude. We thank them for having believed in Osteopathy, in what we do and in our wonderful team.
